Montclair Bread Line 2020 is part of my COVID-19 series. I walked Montclair with prepared sketchbook pages and drew intriguing everyday scenes. For this scene, however, I only had to look out my third-floor window at 130 Forest Street. I sketched this socially distanced bread line and completed this 8x10” painting from memory. It’s amazing to me how quickly something can become historical when I’m capturing a slice of time. This beloved bakery has now changed hands.
